There are many ways to get involved with preserving the North Shore of O'ahu. Here are some of the easiest and most direct ways to influence the current situation. This matter is urgent and your support can take any form -- contacting Hawaii's government officials, writing about the issue to increase awareness, financial donations, legal aid, web and grassroots efforts, and simply getting the word out to any one that you know. But don't wait -- as of June 2007, the plans for the proposed development are being reviewed. Your opinion counts. Don't hesitate to use it!
As you can imagine, attempting to stop the expansion by a multi-billion dollar corporation does not come cheaply. Every penny of donations to Keep the North Shore Country goes to pay legal bills in battling a multi-billion dollar corporation in court. Please make a financial donation if you're able to.
1. Sign the list and send a letter
Sign the list and send an email letter to the office of Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann.
2. Donate financially
Donate directly to the cause online:- Through Surfrider with a tax-deductible donation to Keep the North Shore Country. (NOTE: Enter "Keep the North Shore Country" in the Specific Memorial Fund field to make sure it goes to this cause.)
- Directly to the Defend Oahu Coalition to support their efforts to protect communities along the North Shore from the dangerous effects of large scale development. You can also send a check through the mail.
3. Purchase t-shirts and stickers
Buy stickers, t-shirts, wristbands to support the cause at the Keep the North Shore Country website.
4. Spread the word online
Add web banners to your site to support this cause and spread awareness.
